چکیده
We report on the observation of nonlinear dynamics in driven-dissipative Bose-Hubbard dimers using a pair coupled fiber ring resonators coherently driven by single laser beam. comprehensively explore optical switching arising when scanning detuning undriven cavity and demonstrate key role played regime. By driving photonic dimer out equilibrium, we observe occurrence robust self-switching oscillations.Received 1 April 2021Revised 14 July 2021Accepted October 2021DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevResearch.3.L042031Published American Physical Society under terms Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Driven-dissipative Bose-einstein Condensates
Driven-dissipative Bose-Einstein condensates Ultracold quantum gases are usually well isolated from the environment. This allows for the study of ground state properties and unitary dynamics of many-body quantum systems under almost ideal conditions. Introducing a controlled coupling to the environment “opens” the quantum system and non-unitary dynamics can be investigated. Such an approach pro...
متن کاملSteady-state phases and tunneling-induced instabilities in the driven dissipative Bose-Hubbard model.
We determine the steady-state phases of a driven-dissipative Bose-Hubbard model, describing, e.g., an array of coherently pumped nonlinear cavities with a finite photon lifetime. Within a mean-field master equation approach using exact quantum solutions for the one-site problem, we show that the system exhibits a tunneling-induced transition between monostable and bistable phases. We characteri...
متن کاملObservation of the Mott insulator to superfluid crossover of a driven-dissipative Bose-Hubbard system
Dissipation is ubiquitous in nature and plays a crucial role in quantum systems such as causing decoherence of quantum states. Recently, much attention has been paid to an intriguing possibility of dissipation as an efficient tool for the preparation and manipulation of quantum states. We report the realization of successful demonstration of a novel role of dissipation in a quantum phase transi...

Dissipative adaptation in driven self-assembly.
In a collection of assembling particles that is allowed to reach thermal equilibrium, the energy of a given microscopic arrangement and the probability of observing the system in that arrangement obey a simple exponential relationship known as the Boltzmann distribution. Once the same thermally fluctuating particles are driven away from equilibrium by forces that do work on the system over time...
